Muso

Muso is a digital application that creates a relaxing space for university students to take a break from study, improve their mentality & induce positive academic outputs through audio and visual relaxation techniques. You can sign up to Muso through your chosen music platform (e.g Spotify) and it will assess your songs & select music from the linked account, providing a collation of personalised music with a bpm at the correct pace for effective breathing exercises to improve relaxation (roughly 72bpm). Playing music will display a screen with animated breathing exercise prompts that synchronise with the audio, maintaining the rate & depth of respiration to decrease stress. Visual cues & familiar audio amplify the breathing techniques to successfully reduce anxiety & increase levels of perceived relaxation. As Muso is a digital medium, it can be easily accessed and effectively used in a wide range of scenarios to achieve relaxation in a subtle manner. Through these researched psychological techniques, the app aims to impact physiological academic stress by using music in combination with visual cues to implement effective relaxation for students.
